"Is there a way to truly break a horse from bucking?"

Dear Keith...

Monday, June 4, 2007

Is there a way to truly break a horse from bucking? Yet again while riding my paint arabian/qh decided while in a canter that he would go into a full run and when the reins were brought up to slow/stop him he turned his head and bucked his rider off. this is not the first time he has done this. I guess he has more than one problem. Headstrong.... If he will always buck then I don't need him. Im 51 he is my first horse and I am not an experienced rider. I have never allowed him to go into a canter with me on him. His trot is too fast for me. I have taken a fall from him 2 times too many. the first from a buck an the second he bolted into a full run, i lost my balance while trying to stop him and finally fell off. I purchased a new saddle and feel more secure in it but would like to break him of it before it happens again. Any suggestions? Thanks Robyn
