"Can I give the horses a full apple?"

Dear Keith...

Keith,
Thank you for all the help you have given me. I still havent been able to get a holster on our filly but we make progress every day with her. My question is; can I give the horses a full apple? I know that the seeds have arsenic in them and I can not give it to my bird BUT should I be worried about them with the horses? I have been cutting them all out. Is this something to worry about since the horses are 100 million times more the weight than my bird? Sorry for such a stupid question but it would help when my husband gives them treats with apples. He doesn't think it should take the extra 2 seconds to take them out.
Thank you!
Karen M
PS...I would have bought a few of the programs you have but right after we bought the horses I lost my job so we are doing the best just to feed the animals...we have 2 1/2 horses, three dogs and a bird....they eat better than we do but that is OK!!!! |

Well, of course I’m going to say “ask your vet,” but I personally give my horses the whole apple (or cut up, whatever) and “haven’t lost one yet.” But it does sound like a great question for somebody with a medical license.
Regards - Keith
